Not only does Sergio de Sousa keep Cozmic One happy and healthy at his farm, he goes out of his way to share updates with us. Here’s a glimpse into Coz’s birthday morning at De Sousa Stables.
Dear Sandy,

If you haven’t heard yet, Whitmore came in third. Lexingtonian. a 34-1 longshot won. Also, I wanted to offer condolences to everyone associated with Bernardini such a handsome guy gone MUCH TO SOON RIP.
Dear Judy,
Thanks for posting the replay. Congrats to Lexitonian (last year he sat down in the gate ruining any chance) 34-1, and to all connections for the Alfred G. Vanderbilt win — well done! I was disappointed for Whitmore, but as is his custom, he kept on trying and held on for 3rd.
Also, I congratulate a 13-1 Montauk Traffic for getting 4th — this is the 4 year old son of Cross Traffic who pulled off a stunning win coming from back of the pack at Belmont (Race 6) on July 11. He is a beautiful dark grey with a silvery tail. Special Reserve gets kudos for 2nd today, too!
Cheers! Congrats to winners in stakes races at Saratoga today!

Thanks for that tidbit about Lexi. Great win by him, plus a portion of earnings will go to Jockey fund. Thank you, trainer Sisterson.
Congrats to all winners yesterday. Essential Quality is a Champ!
Speaking of greys. Happy for Shug and his maiden win by Limited Liability. Turf monster in the making. Beautiful win.
Of course, Maggie riding Zandar tops the day.

Dear Marshall:
Didn’t realize Lexi had an incident last year. Thank God he was OK.
Congrats to MT and SR and all of them; they try their best.
Watched a bit of the eventing this a.m. The U.S. is now in 5th place going into the show jumping part sometime tomorrow. Speaking of little or no info it was reported that a Swiss horse was euthanized on the track after bursting a ligament. That’s all the info I could get. May the rest of the day have happier news.
Oh my, I hadn’t heard about the Swiss horse — devastating. RIP brave one.
I have been watching the Cross Country competition, also. It seems quite a tough course, and the temperature is high. Several riders have been unseated which ends their bid. Safe and sound riding to all, both riders and horses.
Hugs and Love
Just a follow-up on the horse with the ruptured ligament:
He was vanned off to the veterinary where it was evaluated and the decision was made to euthanize. His name was Jetset. RIP and
condolences to all.
So sad.
Thanks for sharing. Congrats to Jackie and his connections.
That was quite a delay. Those horses were very well behaved in their holding pattern paddock walk. Imagine the stares!
Jackie sure came off of that slop looking really sharp. Amazing.
Love to all.
Race #1 at Saratoga yesterday (Aug. 01, 2021), 5 1/2F on Turf turned out very well for a 5 year old grey gelding by Papa Clem out of Vintage Brees(Medaglia D’Oro). He went off at 4-1, but none of the experts even mentioned him. Of course, I liked him even though he had raced 24 times with no win. Guess what, he won! He ran great with José Lezcano on board. The trainer is Gregory DiPrima. Loaded Joe(#11, from far outside) paid
$10.60, and broke his maiden at last! They didn’t even show Joe and connections in the Winner’s Circle — like Rodney Dangerfield, he got no respect. However, I cheered loudly and woke my dogs!!
Yay❣️
Hugs and Love — You go, Joe! ?
Dear Judy,
Yes, LJ did a fine job! In the post parade, they didn’t think much of
him but said he was 0 for 24. After he won, they were amazed and said now he was 1 for 25. No one interviewed his trainer nor the jockey after the race; although, Maggie did say the trainer was a good guy and congratulated him. Perhaps they were pressed for time.

Hope Loaded Joe sees some success now and stays safe.
Hugs and Love
Big congrats to Joe.
Interesting read of his past results. Taking the phrase “switching it up” to another level. Somewhere along the line Joe was screaming Turf. I like turf!

I watched those final rounds today — great riding. I felt bad for the French team which was on top until a disastrous round knocked them out of any medals. Then it was a duel between us and the Swedes — we almost got it!
Just a matter of time fractions. Proud of our Team USA and congrats to the Swedish team on winning the gold after 93 years!
Yes, great job by the Sweedish Equestrians. Congrats to them.
