Not only does Sergio de Sousa keep Cozmic One happy and healthy at his farm, he goes out of his way to share updates with us. Here’s a glimpse into Coz’s birthday morning at De Sousa Stables.
OOps I forgot to mention the Summertime Oaks replay can be found on Bloodhorse.com. Also in the sentence about Mike Smith riding Crazy Beautiful it should read Mike Smith was on a little lady named Crazy Beautiful who ran a race almost like our Zenyatta.
Yes Martha, Crazy Beautiful and Mike were great together but nothing can compare to Queen Z! He had ridden her before and that was his strategy, to sit and wait and then make their move. It was a grade 2 race with $120k to the winner. That’s why they call him Big Money Mike, after all!
Today, Mike will team up with Mr. Porter, Papa Mandela and Royal Ship for a grade I. Good luck and safe trip!
Dear Judy,
Thanks for posting the Taps Across America link.
I checked out so many of them last night. I fell asleep before I could
post a reply. It was so touching.
Trevor just had his first win in the 5th Race at SA in a MSW on Thrilling by Uncle Mo out of Together (Galileo) and what a thriller it was. He came flying at the finish in a 6 1/2 F on the Turf. Will post the replay as soon as it’s up. Congrats Trevor and Thrilling. Love and Hugs, JB
I just listen to a live race and watch the replay after I know they all crossed the wire safely. In looking at the replay of Thrilling, I did not realize that he and Trevor had the lead most of the way. They held on tenaciously to the lead to the finish line. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Judy,
Thanks for posting this race. Congrats to Thrilling, Trevor McCarthy, Michael McCarthy and all connections! Well done!
Hugs and Love
If you haven’t already seen or read it, the post position draw is completed there will be 8 horses running. 1. Bourbonic 2 Essential Quality, 3. Rombauer, 4. Hot Rod Charlie 5. France Go de Ina 6. Known Agenda 7. Rock Your World, and 8. Overtook. The posting also included the number of Belmont winners from each of these positions. They are 1. (24 wins), 2. ( 12 wins), 3. (15 wins), 4. (10 wins), 5. (15 wins), 6. (8 wins), 7. (14 wins) and 8. (7 wins). Hope this helps in picking your choice if you haven’t already made one GOOD LUCK AND SAFE RACING.
Martha,
I have 3 that I like. I think EQ is the best of the bunch and it doesn’t sound like Brad is very worried about that 2 post. I also like Known Agenda and so glad he has a better post than he did for the Derby. And in my heart, I would love to see Bourbonic hit the board. It would be wonderful to see Calumet hit the board and Afleet Alex is Bourbonic’s broodmare sire. Love Alex ever since his run in the Preakness. Safe trip to all of them and I hope y’all enjoy the racing on Saturday and pick lots of winners.
Agree, expect a huge effort from EQ. Bourbonic is a Bernie Boy so rooting for him, plus he’s a closer too. Distance should suit.
There’s another Curlin too, No 8 Overtook, out of Got Lucky (AP Indy). Maybe he can!
My long shot pick was Rebel’s Romance and Mikey. But RR developed an infection in his
leg and is out of the race. Hope he’s feeling better soon.
Dear Martha,
Thanks for this information. I missed the draw this morning. There are several in this race who would make me happy with the win.
Hope every horse and rider has a safe and sound trip! ❤️
Hugs and Love
Marshall, remember you posted about Magic Attitude and Trevor’s come from behind win on 5/1 on Belmont turf course. Well, Trevor is listed to ride her again on Saturday, Race 9 in the Grade II New York Stakes. His coming in from CA says a lot. Mean Mary is entered in the race as well as Harvey’s Lil Goil (American Pharoah) and My Sister Nat among others. Really talented field. Godspeed; safe and sound.
Love and Hugs, JB
Ann NC
JB, this is going to be an exciting race. Think it is Friday?
Thanks for giving us an alert. I remember that come from behind win by Magic Attitude (Zenny Style)..goosebumps.
Lots of great racing this week. Safe travels for all.

Judy,
That race is packed with talent. I hope Trevor does well. Must be a good horse for him to make the trip from California.
Sorry Mike lost his Belmont mount. Johnny V made out like a bandit for his ride!

Dear Ann and Shirlee:
Ann, you’re right, the race is Friday not Saturday. My mistake; sorry about that.
So much talent in the race, should be exciting. Love and Hugs, JB

Dear Shirlee:
Have to repick my choices with my first one Rebel and Mikey out of the Belmont. Will be strange not having Mikey in one of the Classics. I’m definitely looking at Bourbonic and Overtook as longshots; France too. Godspeed all; safe and sound.
Good luck with your picks and good racing luck too. Love and Hugs, JB
Marshall (NC Broad)
Dear Judy and Ann,
Oh my, Magic Attitude AND Harvey’s Lil Goil!!
What do I do? I sure hope they all race well and finish safely, but I have to continue with HLG — she’s a gray girl that I have always picked. Yes, it is a very talented field!
Hugs and Love
Truth is, I didn’t remember. Thanks to you for reminding us.
We’re back in the muggies again too after a few days of rain and low humidity. Well, ‘tis the season.
Hope it’s not too muggy for the horses in NY on Saturday. Godspeed; safe and sound all. Love and Hugs, JB
It has been a while since I checked on you. I am happy to hear you and your babies are doing well. As things get better, there will be more positive news around us. Stay healthy and happy dear Zenny. Someday I will visit you. Love and hugs!!
I think KHRC is going to have to DQ Medina Spirit. The cannot and must not show favoritism for Baffert. The rules are the rules and they must be enforced if we are ever going to get honesty in racing. I feel sorry for the owner, Johnny V and the horse. Not that Medina Spirit knows all of this is going on.
Poor innocent Spirit. Of all those involved in this sad case, he is the least one deserving of disqualification. The rest of them shouldn’t even be allowed to be near horses. ???Love and Hugs, JB
So sad for Medina Springs,, he ran his heart out. Also keep checking on this page to see anything about Zenyatta , gosh it’s been a long time. See her from time to time on Lanes End post’s but nothing here. I wonder why that is? Are they getting ready to shut this site down? I’ve been with her since her diaries… seems odd, or did I miss something?
There are posts on Z’s Forum that she went to Candy Ride again this Spring. No official announcement yet or whether or not she is in foal with a 2022 baby. Love and Hugs, JB
Was just reading the Form for the fillies and mares Race 9 New York Stakes on Friday with Magic Attitude and all the other talented girls. Might as well just pick a name out of the hat! Whew, tough one to handicap; all twelve possible. Love and Hugs, JB
I don’t understand why you ladies keep saying poor Medina Spirit? He doesn’t have mental capabilities to understand the situation. He wasn’t in any physical pain except for the rash he had on his flank.
Finally, its about time. BB is going to get just what he deserves. Hopefully, more who are committing the same offenses will be caught and punished as well. Once again horse racing needs to be cleaned up and the bad actors cleaned out.
Swiss Skydiver out with fever. Irad took a spill at Belmont late yesterday and is out for a couple of weeks. Sure upsets my picks in this weekend races.

What a busy couple of racing days at Belmont! So glad for America’s Day at the Races (which can be seen free on Youtube) as TVG is still not able to show Belmont action. Have no clue about “The Belmont” itself. Seems like a lot of horses could win. Would love to see Essential Quality have a good race after the disappointing Derby.

OMG, Mikey just won Race 8 Just A Game Stakes on the Turf at Belmont with Althiqa, gorgeous Grey filly. What a great ride by Mikey; come from behind win just like Z. Will post the replay as soon as it’s up. Congrats Mikey and Althiqa. Love and Hugs, JB
Dear Judy,
I saw that race! Very exciting and what a lovely grey girl. It was cute when
Mike told Donna B. that he shouldn’t be paid for riding Althiqa today — he said it was all her! Gotta love Mike Smith! Congrats to Althiqa, Mike and all connections!!

Congrats to Essential Quality and Luis Saez. Wonderful win. Great efforts by HotRod, Rom and Known Agenda too. Hope all horses and riders came back well. Love and Hugs, JB

And Bourbonic was behind Known Agenda. HotRod Charlie ran the fastest
first quarter mile of any Belmont Stakes ever! Wow!

My ‘capping isn’t getting off to a good start — it’s a good thing I don’t have to make a living out of it! ?
Hugs and Love
I’m still catching my breath after the Belmont. Even though I’m a huge fan of Hot Rod Charlie, he did improve his position one notch from the Derby and am very proud of him. In fact according to the verbiage I heard from the analysts, they seemed to think that without his fast pace, Essential Quality might not have won. HM! Besides, it gave Essential Quaity to redeem himself. It showed up close what a horrible start he had in the Derby. YIKES! NO WONDER HE DIDNT DO ANY BETTER.! The best part of all was all of the races appeared to be run fair and square and there were no major incidents.
