This might sound like an odd question, but has anything been said about Zenyatta being bred back to Candy Ride this year? Officially, from this website?
Martha, I have seen nothing about Zellda racing from her Facebook page. We get news about every other horse but not her. Occasionally, a fan will visit and post pics of her in her stall but that’s it.

Right! I’m not even sure why they call it her page as the posts are about everything else in the world. Every time I see a notification, I hope it’s about Zellda herself, but it rarely is.

Dear Z and racing fans,
I have tried to find the replay of today’s (May 23) Race 8 at Churchill Downs.
It was so exciting — Miss Mosaic ridden by Colby Hernandez and trained by Ben Colebrook went off at 44+/- odds and darn near won! She is a 5 yr old mare by Verrazano x Glitter Tax/Artax, a lovely chestnut. I got so excited when she came on strong, but alas, she got nipped a short nose by the even money favorite, Lady Rocket. It really looked like a dead-heat at the wire.
That was a heartbreaking result in a AOC race for fillies and mares 3 yrs+.
I couldn’t get a link for the race, but maybe someone can find a replay — it’s worth watching. Even Andy Sterling was pulling for her!
Congrats Miss Mosaic, you are VERY fine!

I wish we had more news about Zenyatta’s two girls. But I come to this site to talk about horses and racing. Here in Indy there is not much interest in horse racing. People kind of look at you with dazed eyes when you talk about it. Same thing I do when they talk to me about the 500!

Have been nursing my sweet pup who tore a ligament on her hind leg. With the laser treatment and proper meds, she is now back to barking at mailman and the other pups passing on the sidewalk. Oh my gosh, it was so awful seeing her in that scenario.

I certainly can empathize about having a sick dog. My little Feather had to go in to see the vet two days after we got her from the shelter. We knew she had a couple issues when we got her . She needed a complete dental and had a small hernia that needed fixed. She’s home now and she knows it. She has accumulated a favorite chair to sit in, a favorite blanket and toy to sleep with and chased out a mouse that found its way into the house. She has also made it clear to a MUCH larger dog that lives next door that he’s not welcome in our yard and to stay away from the fence between. Here’s hoping everyone has a sparkling day.

Happy Friday from rainy, cold, windy northeast Ohio! We have glad warnings on the lake, ferry transportation to the Lake Erie islands has been halted until Sunday, and tons of rain. Just a delightful start to the Holiday Weekend (not!!). Things may start improving by later on Sunday . . . . we’ll hope for that.
Hovis is a man of relatively few words today, but there don’t seem to be any crises so that’s the good news.
Lots of races this weekend – especially at Churchill and Santa Anita although some very short fields out there at the Great Race Place.
Thinking of all of the lives lost so that we can remain free. Sending good wishes to all those who served or who have loved ones who served or were lost.

Rico looks different from the porcupines I’ve seen on Alaskan Wildlife Rescue (NatGeo-Wild). But as lots of dogs have discovered (on Dr. Pol and Dr. Oakley), those porcupines are no laughing matter! Ouch, Ouch, Ouch!!!

Big Red was a rascal. He would stand under a tree at the top of his paddock and when visitors came by, he would scare everyone by racing down the hill at break neck speed and then do a sudden u turn right before he hit the gate! He kinda looked as if he was laughing at us. God made him and then broke the mold.

This is an article from TOBA dated November 2016 on the Amermans. It truly reflects the kind of ownership of horses sorely needed today. They have a connection to Zenyatta as they used to own her half sister Balance. Balance was sold last year in foal to their stallion, Oscar Performance. I think you will enjoy reading Mrs. Amerman’s thoughts on TB ownership and long term care of horses she has bred. Seems sincere.

Here’s hoping everyone is having a pleasant holiday. If you haven’t seen it already, you might want to take a peek at the Summertime Oaks race that was run yesterday at Santa Anita. Mike Smith was on a little lady named Crazy Beautiful who a race almost like our Zenyatta. She came out and raced between two other horses then settled back into last with another horse until the got into the stretch run when she did a sweeping move around the other horses and went by those horses and won by one and three-fourths lengths. You gotta love grays. Sorry I don’t know how to post but perhaps someone else can.

Judy, Thanks for the post. What a great story. Shed a few tears when Steve told of the day Mr. Sweat left both Riva and Secretariat at Claiborne. Thankfully, I was able to visit both of them several times there.
We won’t ever see Secretariat’s like again. So happy he came along in my lifetime.

Happy Friday from rainy, cold, windy northeast Ohio! We have glad warnings on the lake, ferry transportation to the Lake Erie islands has been halted until Sunday, and tons of rain. Just a delightful start to the Holiday Weekend (not!!). Things may start improving by later on Sunday . . . . we’ll hope for that.
Hovis is a man of relatively few words today, but there don’t seem to be any crises so that’s the good news.

Rico looks different from the porcupines I’ve seen on Alaskan Wildlife Rescue (NatGeo-Wild). But as lots of dogs have discovered (on Dr. Pol and Dr. Oakley), those porcupines are no laughing matter! Ouch, Ouch, Ouch!!!

Big Red was a rascal. He would stand under a tree at the top of his paddock and when visitors came by, he would scare everyone by racing down the hill at break neck speed and then do a sudden u turn right before he hit the gate! He kinda looked as if he was laughing at us. God made him and then broke the mold.

Here’s hoping everyone is having a pleasant holiday. If you haven’t seen it already, you might want to take a peek at the Summertime Oaks race that was run yesterday at Santa Anita. Mike Smith was on a little lady named Crazy Beautiful who a race almost like our Zenyatta. She came out and raced between two other horses then settled back into last with another horse until the got into the stretch run when she did a sweeping move around the other horses and went by those horses and won by one and three-fourths lengths. You gotta love grays. Sorry I don’t know how to post but perhaps someone else can.
