So exciting to see the beautiful boy preparing for his debut at the Great Race Place! Nothing can compare with watching his wonderful mother winning the Classic there. Wish we could see him run in person today! Go Coz!!
Barbara Brayton
Do your best, Coz, and come back safe.

Gooooooo Coz!!!!

Safe #2 race to everyone, and go Coz! So exciting…less than 20 minutes to wait.

Watching post parade and he is calm so far…John had Espinoza mount him in the saddling barn.

Well, last bless his heart, better luck next time sweetie.
KJ Bailey
Could be Coz needed to see what it was all about – I’ll not be jumping ship. Cool out sound, Coz.

Cozmic One, first foal out of 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta, finished
last of six in a mile maiden in Friday’s 2nd race. #santaanita #Drf
Proud of you, Coz!
You were professional in the post parade.
You loaded in the gate very well.
Post Position 1 is the hardest-especially for a novice.
You are smart – so I know your learned.
Very glad you had a safe trip–most important of all
On to the next race!
Mary Darden McLeod
Totally agree with your analysis, Bluegrass Girl. You were quite right: Post Position 1 was a challenge for him, you could see it in his face just after the start.
Take care,

Poor Cozmic One – I hope if it turns out he doesn’t have that competitive fire in his heart like his mama did, that they will let him be a hunter/jumper or dressage or trail horse…or just someone’s best friend. I think Ziconic will be the one to watch on the track.
Faithful Zenyatta Supporter
Noticed that Coz jumped out of the gate fine and wanted to keep up with the pack, then when Espinoza held him back there was no way to catch up. Kind of surprised since I read that Coz’s best chance was to not get to far behind.

Dear Z Fans:
COZ didn’t fire today, but at least he’s got the experience of his first start. Love you beautiful boy; come out of the race OK please. Love and Hugs, JB
Ingrid Arnone
Dear Judy,
I agree with you, maybe in the next race he is going to be better.
Hugs Ingrid.

Coz:
You looked great out there. We are proud of you!!! To us fans it didn’t matter where you finished. We just all love you.
maureen ph[llips
So Proud of you Cozmic One. The first race is out of the way and all the bugs, now you know what it means to be in a race. It is well Handsome boy. It is well. Congratulations to all Z Nation family, it is well.
Dona
Whew! Glad he’s safe, and hope he learned something. Anxious to read John’s assessment of the race. Not sure Coz knew what was going on.
Sure is a looker.
maureen ph[llips
Dear Dona,
My thoughts exactly, but he has learnt what racing means. Everyone is allowed a loss, even the great Queen had one loss, be it late but it was a loss. His came at the begining and thats okay. We’ll kick ‘B’ the next time out and onwards, am not even worried and no body should be. We all knew going in that this might happen, I mean him thinking it was just play. He’ll get it right and be just fine. It is well. Still Proud of our handsome Prince. I actually remember before Sunday Silence became great, his connections were trying to get rid of him but no one was buying, look at what he accomplished.! It is well. One race doesn’t define a horse.
Debbie
Coz had a great first race, he learned a lot I’m sure! I’m just so thankful he was safe and sound!! xoxoxoZ,Coz,Ziconic(&ZPrincessAngel)
Gary
COZ will figure it out.He looked good and he studied the track. Like seeing momma out there. Once he catches it the Jockey better hang on!!
Jane Jenkins
If they want to run him like Zenyatta ran, maybe he should have the rider Zenyatta had? Just a thought.
shirleeinindy
Victor HIT HIM!!!!
Think he wants to be a closer like mom. Just got a little too far behind. At least this first one is over and everyone can relax a bit. I am sure Coz and John learned a lot from this race. The most important thing is he appears to have come home safely.
Wish he had Mikey.
norita19
I was thinking that, too. OMG he’s hitting him! Part of the business, big boys.
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Shirlee:
Was thinking VE was a little too heavy handed with the whip at the end, but that’s just my opinion. Glad COZ has had the experience of a race and hope he came out of it OK. Love and Hugs, JB
Suz CATX
A nervous event. So happy he behaved well and didn’t act up. A ton of experience gained. No worries he will progress. HOWEVER I read he is off to Belmont. Sad. I’d rather have him remain in California. Consider please
shirleeinindy
And guess who is on his way to Belmont! Taco, Jess’s Dream. Perhaps these guys will be workout buddies!
It did look as if Coz was not putting a lot of effort in during the race. Too busy gawking around.
sheena.davies(wales)
His mum will love him and be proud of him.I wish Mike Smith was riding too.Next time Coz!!Hugs SheenaX
Leslie R.
Even though Coz didn’t win today, I’m very proud of him and will always love him. I’m sure he learned a lot from this experience. I’m curious to hear what John has to say and I’m looking forward to his next race.
Hugs to all,
Leslie
Denise in St. Louis
We love you COZ!!! Baby steps – he learned a lot today. I am so happy John is his trainer – he has so much patience with horses and he is the BEST !!!
Kathy
That’s okay, Coz. You looked beautiful and professional. You’re very smart, you’ll get this. XOXOXOXO
Donna H
This is just the beginning, Coz. The best is yet to come. You’ll show ’em!!!
maureen ph[llips
Amen to that.!
Diana_NV
Thought Coz was well behaved throughout his debut. Interesting that Victor got on him in the saddling area and rode him out out to the paddock (more control??). This is a tough colt with his mind on other things. Maybe this was just an out to see how he would do and give him a little experience. Don’t know if he has his dam’s mow ’em down killer instinct yet. He needs to learn why he’s out there running. He sure reminded us of Zenny today, didn’t he?
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Diana NV:
COZ looked gorgeous out there and so like the Queen. Love and Hugs, JB
Ann K
He looked like Zenyatta, for sure, and I got all choked up watching the post parade.
But unfortunately he thinks like Eblouissante. The statistical odds of being successful are hugely against him (and any other famous son of a famous horse). It was good to try him, and maybe there’s some way to get the light bulb to turn on in his head. I remain more optimistic about Zionic.
Z13Rulz
“thinks like Eblouissante”
I thought the same thing watching that race. Hopefully John has better luck unlocking CoZ then he did with Ebby.
I also remain optimistic about Ziconic.
Deb E.
I am also waiting on pins and needles for Ziconic. Coz needs some more seasoning, but at least he now has experience on the track. The most important thing is that he got to the finish line safely!
Ann NC
Coz, a big day for you taking in all the new sights and sounds.
Now you have that first race under your girth.
Proud of you buddy!
Judy Berube From Rhode Island
Dear Ann:
Me too. Love and Hugs, JB
Marypny
That Cozmic One was out there learning what it’s all about today and I’ll wager he won’t want to be at the back of the pack next time! Competitiveness will kick in.
I’m so happy that he behaved and that he’s safe. I am also very interested in what John has to say about his observations and thoughts.
Just love the boy!
