THANK YOU so much for always thinking of us with gorgeous pictures. Coz is loving it!!
He is one very special handsome dude; such a lean muscle machine. I love him!
I am Auntie to Zenyatta so I must be gramma Sally B to Coz! I am so proud to be.
max… I cant tell you how happy I am for the brown panther. I followed his antics for sometime and havent stopped laughing at is running off. It was the fun story during a difficult time. when I told my lizzie we had to back the brown she asked why, as maybe he wasnt yet found or might run off again, well he ran as good as you ever said he could and you brought a little happiness to a couple of chrome fans…power up max… thank you
Am so proud of all the horses today. Chrome, Lea, Secret Circle, Materiality, I’m a Chatterbox, Imagining, Birdatthewire, etc.
Solow was absolutely amazing in the Dubai Turf – always had a soft spot for the greys as it was Skip Away who brought me into the sport beyond being a fan who only watched the Derby / Preakness and Breeders Cups every year.
Secret Circle – he is a trooper – a career that includes two Breeders Cup race wins, winning the Golden Shaheen, and he is always there putting in a good fight. What more could a person want? Kind of horse everyone would want in their barn.
California Chrome continues to admire and awe me. And it gives hope to someone who will never have the chance to buy a million dollar horse – he has fought big dances and he continues onward – just love that horse to bits. Having mixed feelings but read on Facebook that his connections are considering a try at Royal Ascot. Commend them for showcasing their star to the world. Trust that they know their horse and would not send him somewhere if they thought he would not do well or get hurt. The Royal Ascot meet is so prestigious and would love to see Chrome do his thing against the top turf horses. It will be interesting to see in the coming weeks… inspiring is not a big enough word to describe how this horse makes me feel http://www.sacbee.com/sports/article16702772.html. Here is the article. Happy to see Lea in the money too.
Hope Main Sequence came out okay, has anyone heard anything?
Saw The Big Beast (one of my favs in training) put in a good work and is pointing to next week’s Calder – love it. From even before last year’s King Bishop, he had a precense to him in any of the pictures that I saw and races leading up to his initial grade one win.
How great is it to have had the older horses win in Dubai? Prince Bishop (8), Secret Circle (6), Brown Panther (7), Sole Power (8)… love this sport.
Also looking forward in the coming week to see how Mubtaahij progresses and goes for a try at the roses – he looked fantastic in the UAE Derby!
Coz looks so strong and simply beautiful – kudos that his connections are allowing him to grow and taking their time, not rushing anything. Cannot wait for his debut! He looks good in blue, too! He has a shadowroll like his mama! Love it.
California Chrome confirmed for Prince of Wales’s Stakes.
Ascot 29th March 2015
Following his gallant second in yesterday’s Dubai World Cup, “America’s Horse” California Chrome will ship direct to the UK, possibly as early as next week.
He will be based at Rae Guest’s Newmarket stables as trainer Art Sherman already has connections within the yard. Art will travel over periodically and in advance to oversee the final preparations. https://www.ascot.co.uk/california-chrome-confirmed-prince-waless-stakes
So agree with you. English turf is different plus he will need to adjust to running in the opposite direction. Is this best for the horse?? As you say, time will tell.
Good luck, Chromie.
My heart is aching for all having hands-on daily contact in CA with Chrome. They will miss him.
Sounds like Rae Guest loves his fillies. A plus for you, Chromie!
Hoping this smart boy keeps interest in wanting to learning more. Stay happy, Chrome!
Might get some romance out of this adventure, like Black Caviar and Saloon. Chromie looks like a horse with a lot of charm and charisma for the ladies. He is handsome. Chromie however will have to keep his distance from these fine fillies and his mind on training. Saloon is a gelding.
What we say reaches far. Someone is listening for hope, someone is reaching for help-and it may be us. What do we need to hear? Say it for others. When we say it, we hear it as well. We hear it twice, through our ears and through our hearts.
Children and pets and older people need the voice of love and common sense. They long for the happy voice, the tone that says all is well and there is no danger. Lord, we all need to hear peace so much-and there is so little spoken.
We looked up to the Great Spirit. We went to our Father. We were encouraged.

Kathy, Wonderful, wise words. An encourager is such an uplifting influence. Thankyou for reminding me of that. I think that’s why we all come here – to Zenyatta’s influence. She always is encouraging. She never gives up, she’s loving and kind – such a great heart! We have a fresh, new start each day – no matter what’s ahead of us. Blessed Sabbath to you too and to everyone in Zenyatta’s family.
with love, Elizabeth
Yes, I saw Jack O’s snow video. Delightful! And did you see Ray enjoying some watermelon? Wonder where they got it??? I haven’t seen watermelon yet here in So Cal. Can’t wait. I love watermelon! Enjoy the day. Hugs, Kathy.
Chromie ran well yesterday. I was so proud of him! And now on to Ascot apparently. He certainly is getting around! The FB furbabies I’ve checked on are all fine. Have a blessed Sabbath. Love and hugs from me, kisses from Holly, Nikko and Sugar. Kathy.
Dear Kathy.A Blessed Sabbath to you too.BST began today with gales and rain!!!I am not fully awake yet lol!You must be proud of CC’s run yesterday and he will be arriving at Newmarket next week.I hope he loves the beautiful English countryside and that he runs well.He will certainly find the British courses a lot tougher but who knows?I wish him well.Sheikh Hamdan has donated all the prize money to a children’s autistic charity.Miss Dolly isn’t very well the nasty vet (her words)had to give her an injection a poorly eye and gingivitis!Have a wonderful sunday.Love and hugs to you,Kisses for Holly,Nikko and Sugar.Sheena.Did you see Jack O enjoying the last of the snow?
Looks like Moore and Ballydoyle are starting off the new jockey arrangement by winning at the Curraugh with The Warrior. They are sending out the fleet today with a mass horsey parade at the Curraugh to mark the beginning of the flat season. Stars like Gleneagles and John F. Kennedy are taking part. Joe is coming in from Limerick. Should be impressive.
Congratulations to Australia and all their cricket fans .Their team beat New Zealand in the final of the World cup to win for the 5th time!!The barmy army never stood a chance!!!Hugs Sheena.
Thanks for the beautiful pics of our CoZ…….he’s almost ready to start, I think. Oh what a nervous wreck we’ll all be.
Congrats to CC on his great race, 2nd place is no shame, he seemed to get pinched in between two horses at the end, and I read he doesn’t like that. He represented the US well, I’m proud of him. Don’t know how I feel about Ascot, will have to see how he does on the trip over there.
Max,
You made me curious about the May foals and the Derby. Checked and Far From Over’s birthday is May 9 and the Derby is May 2nd. So if he were to win, he would technically be still a 2 year old! With his scary good pedigree about anything could be possible.
Just checked his pedigree. Oh my! His momma is Alchemist with AP as dam sire. If your momma is an alchemist, you’ve got magic in your hooves. See Z’s family on the Blame sire line. Kris S and Roberto. Does Far have the family ears?
Far From Over got me remembering Muchie; the KD was 5/7/11 and he didn’t officially turn three until 6/15/11. FFO has a very impressive pedigree. This is a great group of contenders going for the TC this year, I think. Love and Hugs, JB
Dear Max.Ryan flew overnight to be at the Curragh today,Aidan had 60 horses parading .Young Joe is finding the weight so difficult now,he reminds me of Ryan Mania who won the Grand National in 2013 they are roughly the same height and he just couldn’t take the dieting and the sweating anymore.Mullins and the short guy had a winner at Limerick with Val De Ferbet.
I wonder what CC will make of our green and pleasant land oh to be in England now that april’s there!!He will have plenty of time to get used to our turf and will most probably exercise on Newmarket Heath.Whatever happens he’ll have a great time!Hugs Sheena.
Did you notice that Ryan rode The Grey Gatsby in Dubai? Grey suddenly went ballistic Moosie at the gate and had to be blindfolded. Did not want to go in or come out of the gate, but he still finally got second. It was pretty amazing and out of character.
Read about Joe. Some think that this is it for his flat career. Have to see. Didn’t win on Egyptian Warrior at Limerick today.
Newmarket is a great place for a horse, but I seriously doubt that CC can reach the calibre of Ascot in a few months. To be in that league a horse needs several years of training by the likes of Cecil, Stoute, Gosden or the Hannons. The Irish will be bringing over their best as well. The Irish conditioned Nijinsky. The only US horse who has not raced regularly in the UK who could beat those turf monsters on their kind of turf course as a one off is the Danimal. He’s already done it twice at Woodbine.
There is another US horse who can win on UK turf and has already done it. Hootenanny. He travels the world. Hoping that he goes to the Guineas this year. He’s owned by Ballydoyle and trained by Wesley Ward. Started out at Keeneland so that he’s probably been coached some by the most interesting horse in the world.
Max: I read your posts with interest. CC has nothing to be ashamed of in the DWC, has he? Royal Ascot, while I’d love him to do well, it’s going to be a stretch. My opinion. Going wrong way on a turf track against those European horses is going to be tough. Don’t they do a lot of conditioning up hill & down dale? I wish him & all this people the very best of luck.
Chrome did amazingly well in Dubai on a track that he did not know and on foreign dirt after a long flight. Same for Lea and Candy Boy. Winner had the advantage of no travel and lots of experience on that track. Buick said that Prince Bishop has his own way of running, 25 lengths back for much of a race. Like Z.
The English and Irish trainers do condition by running their horses up and down hills. Al Kazeem, the pride of Wales and a lovely horse, recently did that daily to lose weight after he returned to racing from stud duty. Trainers also do lots of distance training. Willie Mullins has his own particular methods. I listened to an interview with Aidan O’Brien about the start of the flat season. He was praising the Curraugh for its course because it has an outstanding mile and a half track. North America has only two such tracks, Belmont and Woodbine. The English and Irish chasers can run up to 3 miles in their races. Some then switch to the flat. You do not see that type of conditioning over here because the emphasis is more on speed and shorter races. Different styles.
Dear Max. I think the race was a little too short for GG he did well to come 2nd to another grey though.Whether it’s because the UK can hardly be considered warm I am not too keen seeing horses bathed in sweat maybe GG didn’t care for Dudai either.Another horse who did well at Ascot was No Nay Never.
I am sure WD will have had a word with Hootenanny.I just hope Ascot doesn’t break CC’s heart. As you said it would take a long time to reach the calibre of Ascot .I just hope his owners are not throwing him in at the deep end.I would have LOVED to have seen WD at Ascot!!!Sheena.Have you seen Mike on board Coz today?
You might be right about Grey. Dubai is not England in the spring. Grey was probably telling Moore that he wanted to get on the next flight back to London.
Chromie’s trainer is quoted as being against going to Ascot. That says it all. Sherman is a wise man. He knows this horse.
Wise Dan at Ascot would be something. Even the best turf monster would be trodden down by the Danimal like he did to them at Woodbine. He’s still got an aggressive will to win against any other horse that he sees in his path. You do not find that in many horses.
No Nay was beaten by Bobby’s Kitten in the BCC Sprint last fall. BK was a rocket on that day. He’s named after Bobby Frankel. Any horse named after Bobby Frankel has wings.
Saw Mike with Coz. Hope that he stays with him. Seems right combo.
