Cozmic One in Thoroughbred Makeover October 4-7

The Thoroughbred Makeover is around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited to watch Cozmic One compete with Isabela de Sousa!

The event takes place at the Kentucky Horse Park October 4-7, 2018. Coz and Isabela will compete in show hunter (Thursday, October 4) and show jumper (Friday, October 5) classes. The majority of the event is free, but paid tickets are required for the October 6 finale. You can purchase tickets for the finale here.

Voting is now open for the Thoroughbred Ambassador Award, intended to honor the Makeover trainer who most inspires in others an appreciation for the talent and trainability of the off-track Thoroughbred. Vote for Isabela de Sousa and Cozmic one here! Retired Racehorse Project membership is required to vote.     I understand that divorce and splitting things up, especially with widespread holdings that the Mosses have, is very difficult, but they let us into Zenyatta’s life, and her babies. We grew to love them all. It seems to me, whoever is in charge of Ziconic, can somehow get word to us about how and where he is, and what plans are in his future!! Every time I hear of the good things happening for Coz, my heart breaks a little more for Ziconic. He is a beautiful animal, who everyone said had potential, and he showed it. Unfortunately for him, for whatever reason, he was trained in the style of his mother, and his body type is that of his father; it just doesn’t work. They kept at it until all the interest he had in competing was extinguished. He has been handled all wrong. It always seemed like Coz was always cared for more then Ziconic. I always remember when the two boys met in Belmont. Coz had a nice blanket and Ziconic had an old torn one. It was very clear that Ziconic felt threatened by the larger Coz towering over him, but he didn’t back down. Then they brought them up side by side, with Coz coming up from behind, instead of face to face; all the time with Ziconic’s eyes rolling. From that time forward I felt that Coz was #1 over Ziconic. but I never thought it would come to this extent. Coz is doing something with his life, and happy. Ziconic has dropped off the face of the earth. Is he just languishing in a pasture somewhere or worse? I know you have cared for your horses, but for some reason, Ziconic is lost. You allowed us to fall in love with our Red Prince, who ran with his mother, and danced like her. Whoever has charge of him, PLEASE let us know about him!!!! Every time I hear good things about Coz, I can’t even enjoy it as much as I want to, because Ziconic isn’t given the same opportunity. He might be a great 3 day eventer. Please have a heart, make his life happy too, and let us know about him, who ever is in charge of him. Someone must be, PLEASE!!!!

      I love ZI and all of Z’s babies equally and I feel your pain. I am certain that ZI is loved by the Moss’ and will be given a safe, happy life in whatever venue or situation they deem best for him. Hopefully we will know, at some point, where and how he is and also how the little Medaglia Princess is doing. Don’t despair. Love and Hugs, JB

    Biscuit is running at Churchill Downs today. Blessings of a safe trip to him. Guess the BC will be his last race then he is off to Japan. Hate to see him go and hope they will post photos and news of him.

    Sorry for the second post but gotta remind everyone that Patch and Thunder Snow are in the Jockey Gold Cup today. Good luck and safe trip to both of them. Hope Thunder Snow behaves himself, but must admit he provided a memorable moment in the Derby.

    I agree with Roberta and it is only natural to wonder what Ziconic is doing? I really had hoped that one of Zenyatta’s babies would be allowed to breed. They have her genes…several champions were born from lesser. I agree that the training and jockey for Zi was wrong and he did show promise in the beginning. But if he’s a pleasure horse for someone, I would love to hear that. Please let us know…it’s a huge hole in my feelings for Zenyatta and the Zenyatta family.

    Wissahickon a son of Tapit wins the Cambridgeshire.for Frankie and Gosden.The flying dismount!!!Ten Sovereigns did win the middle park a bit green but a definite will to win.Getting nervous for the Arc already!!!Good luck to Thunder Snow and Mendelssohn tonight.

      Happy for the owner/trainer of Discreet Lover — it was the first grade 1 for Mr. Uriah St. Lewis and DL. St. Lewis purchased DL for $10,000 in 2015. He was thrilled at his horse’s performance! Good job by rider Manny Franco, too. Love a happy underdog story!

      Thanks for posting the replay of the Jockey Club Gold Cup. I enjoyed watching it again and reading the article. I enjoyed the after-race interview with Uriah St. Lewis yesterday;
      he was quite excited.

    I wish Johnny V could get back up on Patch and give him one more shot. He and Patch seemed to have a very special relationship. Perhaps it is time for Patch to go home to Calumet and just be a horse. I know his many fans would be at the gate to visit him.

    During the TV coverage Jerry Bailey said Thunder Snow would have won had he had the jock who rode the winner. I have no idea if that is true. I do have a special place in my heart for Thunder Snow!

    Questions, Questions, Questions. Hm another day with no word of any kind concerning Ziconic, Z17 or even Zenyatta. Since most if not all of you are closer to the action than I am maybe you could find the answers to such things as Does Z17 have a name yet?, Has she gone to Mayberry yet?, If so, how is she doing with her lessons? Is Zenyatta going to be bred, if so when and to whom? It’s been said “patience is a virtue”, but mine is starting to feel a bit stretched. Hopefully between the time when we find the answers to these and any other questions any of you may have we can cross our fingers for Coz and his performance in the Hunter and Show Jumping classes he’s scheduled to participate in on the 4th and 5th of October. Congrats to Biscuits for his win yesterday. Let’s hope he does as well in the Breeder’s Cup. Also best wishes and good luck in advance for his new life in Japan. I for one really miss his conversations with Gun Runner.

    Does anyone know why we have not heard anything about Chrome babies? The sale was full of Pharoah kids, but I did not see one Chromie kid. of course, I did not watch the whole thing. Did he not produce anything with promise? Are owners just holding on to them and not selling?

    Dear Judy.John Gosden has someone walking the course at Longchamp.The French are bound to water but John will do the right thing.The European horses had such a horrendous 62 hr journey out to Australia a window cracked.They all behaved impeccably and are obviously tired now.The vets continue to monitor them.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX
