Cozmic One in Thoroughbred Makeover October 4-7

Dear fans,

The Thoroughbred Makeover is around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited to watch Cozmic One compete with Isabela de Sousa!

The event takes place at the Kentucky Horse Park October 4-7, 2018. Coz and Isabela will compete in show hunter (Thursday, October 4) and show jumper (Friday, October 5) classes. The majority of the event is free, but paid tickets are required for the October 6 finale. You can purchase tickets for the finale here.

Voting is now open for the Thoroughbred Ambassador Award, intended to honor the Makeover trainer who most inspires in others an appreciation for the talent and trainability of the off-track Thoroughbred. Vote for Isabela de Sousa and Cozmic one here! Retired Racehorse Project membership is required to vote. For memorabilia lovers, the Thoroughbred Makeover Auction features a Zenyatta and Cozmic One Halter Shadow Box. Online bidding closes at 4PM Saturday, October 6th.

    I’m so glad he’s being given a chance for a new career, and with someone who seems to care a lot. Not sure hurrying him into this career for the Makeover (see Denny Emmerson – Tamarack Hill Farm FB page for his take on re-training OTT’s for new careers) was the best for him, but if she doesn’t push him more than she has, hopefully, he’ll be OK. He’s still considered young in sporthorse terms, and very green. He’s such a looker!! I’m also glad that Ann is still overseeing his welfare. Thanks for keeping us posted!

    Dear Judy.Charlie Longsdon lost Benny today in a freak accident at the stablesRIP.He gave Charlie his first Aintree win and 23 TB’s have been saved by Hillside the owner had tried to keep all of them but lost his farm so they are happily settled in Norfolk now.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

    Yesterday John and Dottie visited Coz! Isabela posted pics. Coz seemed happy to quietly stand with Dottie.

    Coz has made a wonderful transition. He seems relaxed and happy in this new adventure! He’s learning to jump bigger jumps…there was video the other day of him jumping what looked like 3 ft jumps, up to now they’ve been a bit smaller.

    This is what I’ve been waiting for all year. I’ll be thinking of Isabela next week. Ann made a wonderful choice in choosing Isabela to teach Coz this new skill.

    I am a follower of Zenyatta and the blog and after watching this year’s Triple Crown I thought of the idea of breading two legends together, Justify and Zenyatta. Justify’s will to win as Zenyatta as the length of their strides and how well built they were and are I had the thought that that would be an awesome and deadly combination of speed, accuracy, durability, good brain, strength, and Stamina. Zenyatta had the willpower, the strength, the comeback, and everything that War Admiral, Man O War, Secretariat, and the other greats once had. Justify has the strength, stamina, endurance, and willpower that every great had once had. I may not own any thoroughbred’s of my own and I may still be young but I know a great when I see one or a Great in the making.

    Dear Judy.I read a fascinating article about the amazing sire Nearco tonight.He lived in Newmarket during the war and had his own bomb shelter.Can you imagine the loss if he had been killed.No Northern Dancer Sadlers Wells Ribot the list is endless.He died in 1957 from cancer.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties.Love and hugs SheenaX

    Hope everyone is safe and well. Seeing Coz and Ann together brings back so many happy memories. I worry about breeding Zenyatta again. She gave us all so much during her racing career. Maybe it’s time to let her retire.

    Good luck and be safe sweet Coz and the lovely Isabela. So glad he is doing well and got to visit with John and Dottie. My heart is filled with joy to see how the First Prince is doing now.

    Irish War Cry retired. Not surprised but sorry to see him go. He will stand in Maryland and hopefully will not pass on the “thumps” to his babies.

    Look at those ears! Coz certainly resembles his mom. Next week promises to be very exciting for Coz, Isabela and those of us who follow them. Best wishes to them and also to Irish War Cry on his retirement
